•ღƸ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒღ• Henna Me Silk 4~28~2012 •ღƸ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒღ•

I have some Moroccan henna left over from a bulk purchase over a year ago. Since every one I know that  uses henna is now using the Nupur, I had no one to give it to and I did not want to throw it out.

While have haven't yet experienced any henna quite as moisturizing as the nupur, I haven't really experienced any others with the addition of other herbs. So today I wanted to make the moroccan henna experience a comparable  one.

I wanted to mix the henna with amla but since I didn't have any I added some Brahmi Powder.
this was my recipe:

2 T Hesh Brahmi P owder
1 Cup Coconut Milk

Mixed the powders in with the warm coconut milk, then added the following ingerdients:

1 T Aloe Vera Juice
1 T  Coconut oil
1 T Honey
Moroccan-Brahmi Mixture before adding last 3 ingredients
I will probably only add a teaspoon of these last ingredients next time. It wasn't runny at all, I just like it a bit thicker. The application  went smoother than expected. I did moisturized and detangled my hair hours before, so maybe this had something to do with it.

I let my mixture sit for 3 hours before adding the last 3 ingredients (warmed for less than a minute in the microwave) and the henna in my hair for 3-4 hours. I rinsed with warm water and my hair was EXTREMELY  moisturized. I mean more than with the nupur. Questions began to flood my mind about which ingredient did this? was it the brahmi which is said to be very conditioning, or the marshmallow root which give a lot of slip? It had to be one of these two, sine I used the other ingredients before and didn't get results half as good as this.

I did not  cowash the henna out with a conditioner, I just  made sure the water  ran clear after rinsing and applied the Neutrogena Triple Moisture Daily Conditioner that I've been meaning to try. I'll do an update on my results soon!

Rhassoul: Mocha Coco Double Loco

hennasooq.com
A few weeks ago I did a rhassoul clay treatment. I was very, very happy with it, however, my hair felt weird after. My strands were strong, and yet they felt coated. I was unsure if it left my hair moisturized or not. This was the first time I couldn't tell what had gone wrong ( or right), and what I needed to do next; Did I need to do a moisturizing deep conditioner? Did I need an ACV?

The first clay treatment I did was from the on hennasooq.com   website ( on the organic rhasooul clay powder page under the more info tab). A friend had done it  and loved her results, and fortunately  she shared it with me

 Recipe first time around:
1 Tbs Honey
2 Tbs Rhassoul
1 Tbs Marshmallow Root
1 Tbs Dutch Cocao Powder
1 Cup Coconut Milk

2nd recipe today:

2Tbs Cocoveda Oil
2 Tbs Rhassoul
2 Tbs Marshmallow Root
2 Tbs Dutch Cocao Powder
1 Cup Coconut Milk

****Summer 2012 Updated Recipe ****

2Tbs Cocoveda Oil
2Tbs Raw Honey
1 Tbs Rhassoul
2 Tbs Marshmallow Root
2 Tbs Dutch Cocao Powder
1 Cup Coconut Milk

I forgot to add  the honey  this time around because I did not have the internet to look up the recipe again  so I mixed it from  memory-pretty good huh?  This time around I included a moisturizing deep conditioner and an  ACV afterwards and my results were just FaBuLouS!

This mix was VERY VERY  thick. The addition of oils was a treat, as it made the mixture more silky. Adding honey next time will make it more moisturizing too ( my gosh, how did I forget this)? It was exactly enough to coat all of my strands, and I think I liked it  this way! It smelled so divine with the cocoveda oil, coconut milk and cocoa powder.
The first time I suspected I needed just a bit  more moisture and modification of the mixture, so I 'chatted' in real time ( what a plus)  with Vanessa ( what a darling) from hennasooq via their homepage. She suggested that I half the rhassoul as it can be drying- this way the cocoa powder and marshmallow powders could moisturize better. I still wanted the strength of the rhassoul with  just a bit more moisture, so I  doubled these two moisturizing powders instead, making all the powders 2 Tbs. With this mixture I get both strength and moisture. I will still play around with this mixture and  also use the suggested ratio by Vanessa. It's all about tweaking and catering to the needs of your own hair, right?  Well  I just love doing these kinds of ayurvedic hair treatments (treats  Smiley)!  I mean, I would do one every other day if it made sense but that might be a little too much, ya think!

Have you ever done a treatment that was just so awesome that you just KNEW  your hair was going to thrive? Well this rhassoul mixture was definitely THAT for me today....I'm on Smiley
I call this my Rhassoul Mocha Coco Double loco because it obviously contains Rhassoul,  chocolate and coconut,  doubling the benefits of  both strength and moisture. Don't forget to get yours today, Really!

This little doohickey is my new Pal! Before having children I was greatly into keeping up with the latest technology. After my first child I though who in the world had this much time to dedicate to such a device? Although I still feel this way, I can't resist the fact that the world is indeed a part of a hug advancing technological revolution that will only continue to grow as long as the human race exists.... So I  had to decide- join the bandwagon  or keep my antiquated phone that I could bare use because the numbers have worn off!
My OCD had kicked in FULL THROTTLE because  I had  to CHANGE to something I wasn't so familiar with, and I  had no idea how to navigate the thing. The hardest part was the touch screen that I promised myself I would never get after having a touch screen PDA years ago.  I became spoiled using a  keyboard and now I don't have one.The entire house was feeling how anxious, impatient, and snappy  I was. I was cleaning things over and over, checking things again and again, and  not calling a SOUL from my phone because I just didn't want to use it!

So besides the crazy stuff, this bandwagon was not so bad after all- the camera on this thing is awesome! I get to take high quality 8 mega pixel pics and upload them immediately to the computer- no more snapping pics with the camera, removing the SD drive to insert it  into the computer, and so forth. Everything is pretty much through the touch of a button...how lazy, crazy, and amazing is that?!
